Can You Find Out Who Viewed Your LinkedIn Profile?

People who are active on LinkedIn know how useful the “Who’s Viewed Your Profile” feature is when it comes to lead generation and social selling. If you view the profiles listed there and message them, it can sometimes lead to a new connection.

Similarly, if you view someone else’s profile and you have not set your profile viewing options to Anonymous, you will appear in that person’s Who’s Viewed Your Profile page. This may catch their attention and motivate them to reach out to you.

The “Who’s Viewed Your Profile” feature can help you form new professional connections and open new doors for your career. Gaining new connections and increasing your network is what Kennected’s Sales Enablement Platform does, safely and at scale. So if you want to show up more on suggested people you may know- grow your network.

Accessing the Who’s Viewed Your Profile Feature

To access the Who’s Viewed Your Profile page, simply click the ‘Me’ icon at the top of your LinkedIn homepage and then click view profile. From your dashboard you should be able to see the “Who’s Viewed Your Profile” section. Click on it to see the list of users who recently visited your profile.

The page can also be accessed by clicking Who’s Viewed Your Profile under your profile photo on the left rail of your LinkedIn homepage. Note that the option may not be visible if you haven’t had any profile views in the last 90 days, which is the length of time LinkedIn displays your profile visitors. Viewing timeframes may also vary over time and as people view your profile. The feature can also provide additional trends and insights about viewers.

Basic and Premium Features

When it comes to the Who’s Viewed Your Profile feature, there are differences between having a basic and a premium LinkedIn account. A basic account will display the 5 most recent viewers in the last 90 days, as well as a list of suggestions for increasing your profile views.

Even with a free LinkedIn account, you can view insights such as where your profile viewers work, where they found you from, as well as their job titles.

Of course, a premium LinkedIn account will have access to even more helpful insights from the Who’s Viewed Your Profile page. For instance, they will see the entire list of viewers from the past 90 days. This is in addition to the free account experience.

Premium profiles also have access to weekly viewer insights—perfect for marketers, entrepreneurs, and everyone else who wants to expand their network. You can use the graph of weekly viewer trends to see data points for a particular week. It goes without saying that profile views will only be visible if visitors come to your page.

Browsing Profiles Anonymously

Now that we’ve established the possibility of seeing who has viewed your profile, it is time to discuss the benefits of browsing anonymously. The default is that when you visit someone, they will see your name listed in the Who’s Viewed Your Profile page. But LinkedIn gives you the freedom to browse profiles anonymously, with the downside that you will also become unable to see who has viewed your profile.

Visiting other members’ profiles without showing them your name and headline has its uses. This can help you study the competition or compare your profile with other people in the industry without necessarily informing them that you are looking.

Of course, even when you set your profile viewing options to anonymous, they will still be notified when you visit their profile—but they will not see your name, so they won’t know who it is.

To set your profile viewing options to anonymous:

Click the ‘Me’ icon at top of your LinkedIn homepage.

Click Settings & Privacy.

Select the Privacy tab at the top of the page.

Under the Profile privacy section, click Change next to Profile viewing options.

Under Select what others can see when you’ve viewed their profile, choose to be displayed as Anonymous LinkedIn Member

Changes will be saved automatically.
